I still suggest you pay someone to do it, otherwise it voids warranty and insurance won't give a f**k if you don't show them a receipt for installation by a licenced dealer.

who? go for flashpoint, rhino, mongoose or wats the other, erk! .. most alarms have boot/bonnet/door protection as standard.. make sure u get a inbuilt shock sensor with it as well as its not very useful without it! |

That would mean the alarm itself is only around $100.. Not a very good investment. Remember that it is a b**ch to 'upgrade' alarms once you have one installed.

I have an autowatch AW446 alarm. It is an OK unit. Haven't had any issues with it, except for the fact that you need to use its own remotes, it won't work with the smartlock remote.
there is also an add-on GSM pager unit for them. I had the alarm and the GSM paging unit installed professionally for $750. I am happy with it.
