It hit me in traffic yesterday morning that the BA and BF body shape has more in common with the EA to ED models rather than the EF, EL and definitely AU.

What do you think ?

I sorta thought that as soon as i saw a BA for the first time, ESPECIALLY an EA-ED thats got a chunky bodykit on it.

the rear looks sorta like they have sorta smoothed the AU tail lights i reckon, and made the boot a bit smoother. The front looks completely different to any other ford, and the rest like doors and roofline just look like an AU i reckon. Its nothing like driving anything previous to it though, the handling of the ba s**t all over my AU!

I know what you mean - same goes for the XD and XE models, XF is different. EA to ED is the same, EF to AU 3 big changes. BA to BF almost identical.

Ford said when they released the BA that it was specifically intended to get away from the style of the EF/EL and AU and back towards the earlier models... oh, and it was also specifically designed with a 30% stiffer body over the AU for the V8 Supercar series. Special attention was payed to the rigidity in the tranny tunnel.

Seeing as we're talking styling cues here. There is a particular Mercedes, CLK I think it might be, that has an almost identical rear end to that of an AU forte. The resemblance is uncanny.
