Usually caused by not putting sealant across the joint of the timing cover and on to the head gasket on both sides of the rubber gasket at the top of the timing cover. I know this because I have the same prob, but a different head and cam + BBM is going on soon and I will do it properly this time.

At the top of the timing case, don't use the gasket, just a nice thick bead of selastic. I did the same to my EA and it never leaked.

and i believe its a real b**ch of a job to remove the timing case and dont want to take off the head again ,these bloody timing cases suck .will try sillicon on the outside first, the leak is in one spot and small at the moment.and does EF rocker gear fit straight on these cars.

Not sure about the rocker gear on its own, I am fitting an EF/EL head and cam+ rocker gear in one hit.
I had no luck with silicon as u cannot get the area clean enough to get a good fix and there is a small amount of pressure behind the leak from crankcase pressure.
