also a quick question. If its a cracked gasket, why would it only shake at idle. When i accelerate wouldn't it sort of continue. But i also think it might not because it is faster shaking so it would just be constant.
Also from that would i be losing power. Cheers, Michael |

Cheers, Michael Idle sees quite a high vaccum in the manifold compared to any other point where the throttle plate is open and therefore vacuum leaks are more noticable. High vacuum is also experienced when using the engine to slow the car down. Prepsol or similar can be sprayed around the suspect area... if the idle rpm increases then prepsol is being sucked in through the leak and combusted by the engine... Have you done an actual spark test? i.e. see if a spark is actually being delivered to the no 6 lead?

the leads were replaced and and the plug was burning properly so they were right. think it might be a vacuum hose.

like the others said, i would check the inlet manifold gasket or vacuum leaks at that end of the manifold. or do a compression check, could be valves or head gasket. ae's are very common for head gaskets on cyl 6.

I'm sure that your problem is either manifold gasket or head gasket.
I have a 89 ea fairmont with a cpi engine with the same problem. Both the inlet manifold gasket on number 3 and the head gasket is leaking, luckily head gaskets only cost around $40 N.Z(Repco / supercheap) or $150 for a genuine ford head gasket
