hey guys,
I am uneducated about the rear shockers but can you get independent suspension for the back. What do you need to do....new axle, etc? cheers please don't tell me it already has it be gentle if i am wrong as i have no clue. |

Don't worry, your EA doesn't have Independent Rear Suspension (IRS).
The only way to do it would be to rip the whole rear subsection out of an IRS AU. And weld the f**k in to your E-Series. Basically. It's probably alot more complicated then that. I'd be happy with the live rear end if I were you

I don't doubt that it's possible.
And sure the AU IRS is a nice piece of kit. But you tend to wonder.... why?

And sure the AU IRS is a nice piece of kit. But you tend to wonder.... why? It will fit. Ive checked and done a little bit of measuring. But the offset will cause a problem I think. The a** end of an AU is almost exactly the same as an EL. Ford had to design a way to allow the existing live axle and IRS to be bolted to the same body. So they built the IRS as a separate unit that could be bolted into the same mounting points as the live axle. It also needs 2 more holes to be drilled to mount the rear of the unit. Impressive idea from Ford really. But I soon scrapped the idea as I cant see the greater pro in handing over adding about 100kg of weight to the car and making it even slower than it is. Maybe if my car had a turbo so I could offset the weight... Maybe oneday. |
