was working on the car today i bumped the power steering pump and it made a wierd noise so i checked it and found the pulley on the pump has about 2-3 mm movement in and out ,and the belt was off ,just wondering if this is normal or not.

The power steering belt should move approx. 10mm with 10kg of force applied. To tight and it will fook the bearings.

In and out movement isnt too bad. Most things have a certain amount of end float. But if it moves from side to side, its screwed!
