hey just a question. i currently own a 89 Ea 5 speed falcon as seen in the pics. and was wondering do you think if the car was to run a stage 2 snort kit running about 6/7 psi nothing higher. do you think the motor would last??? i already know id need to get a better fuel pump like a walbro or bosch. and also would a Wolf 3D be ok to run the injection system if tuned correctly? the main thing i wana know is if the car would eventully start blowing smoke and screw the motor. i just want a reliable (yes i said it a reliable turbo project lol). something thats not going to break down in 12 months. would the engine last?? cheers

But you guys do realise the COST you will be spending. Dont get into it if you arent prepared to spend the money as things will cost a lot in the end !

Your Car looks good, so I wouldnt trust it.I have an ebII Turbo, I have rebuilt the engine and put lower comp pistons in and still i can only run 10 psi safely. People talk all about these high boost figures but its all about the compression the engine can handle. If u want to turbo your car do it the right way. (pistons, rods, cooler, injectors, valve springs, fuel pump, fuel reg, computer) You must run an oil catch can or you will blow the seals.if you want i can send some pictures of my car when i was building it.

Only 10psi? With what comp?
Who did your tune? Like Fuzion said. It's not a bad thing f**k around with a stock engine on boost, just don't post on here crying when it all goes too s**t If it all goes good, great, but budget some money away for if it does go bang. We don't want to see a half finished turbo project on E-Bay cause the owner went broke.

With a wolf and a VERY good tune the stock motor will last a day or a year... there's no point saying it will last years on low boost because its not totally boost that kills these motors, its FUEL MIXTURES, TIMING and DETONATION.
Obviously an old motor that wasnt built to handle boost will give sketchy results. These motors in stock form can last ages on low boost if the AF mixtures are perfectly correct and it never ever detonates. My crusty old EA motor was crap, old, using oil and down on compression befor I turboed it, but I wanted to practice on something, then swap the set up into a decent car... Once it was fed boost and lots of it, it didnt last long, but wasnt expected to. So plan this out, if your just after the noises turbo's give then go for it but it will end up costing more than a car that already has a turbo. Be prepared to chew through 10 grand if you wanna do it all right and make it last, ie strong bottom end, fuel and managment support. |

Stall it up on auto [if it is ?] take oil filler cap off ..If any vast amounts of blowby / smoke comes out its ineed of repair shortly..But if theres sfa go ahead turbo it..Btw some klrs on these engines before fitting a turbo is not a bad idea...AS forced induction requres looser clearance in piston/ bore, ring end gap...
