Just a quick question to those of you who have done it. How much would it cost to retrim my EF interior in blue and white vinyl and how long would it take?

Blue and white vinyl - CLASSY.

Dont do it.

Get the upspec falcon, fairmont, fairlane interior.

Vinyl is what hyundai excels and daihatsu charades who enter into car shows use. Looks nasty.

Just my opinion - if you really want it, it would probably cost about $1k to get front and rear seats done and a bit extra for door trims. Price = quality. YOu dont want to get it done too cheap.

I was going to say the same about the fairlane interior..
the white might get a bit dirty but it should be easy enough to clean vinyl with the right products. I personally wouldn't choose blue and white.. maybe black and white would look ok.. 70AST got black and white leather in his AU and it looks sweet as.

Simple philosophies I abide to with most things :

'You get what you pay for'

and

'spend once and get it right the first time'

I guess I consider myself somewhat fastidious about most things...my car being a prime example - I was quoted $2,500 or so from Auto Image to do my EL Ghia - I wanted to get the nice bolstering and new leather (you may have seen JET XR in mags / shows?) - despite my leather being in pretty damn good condition.

Anyway - passing on Sam's offer from auto-image, I kept my $2.5K and sourced a DL LTD interior - full 11 way electric front seats, comfortable seats, different pattern, more bolstering of the rear seats (same pads as used in NF/NL fairlanes) and padded leather armrests on the door trims.

I was quite content, but eventually stumbled across an FBT interior - so that I could not pass up. Made my own interior out of the 2 lots - FBT door trims with padded leather armrests, then the FBT seats were grafted onto the LTD electric frames.

Even with both initial expenses, I'm still ahead of Auto Image's quote of $2.5K...sure it's not all new, but I'm happy with what I have got.

In a nutshell - the best thing is to find out what you want and then get prices - as much as people are saying steer clear from vinyl, it is cheaper and it can look as good...it just won't 'feel' as nice as leather.

If you keep your existing cushions (they dictate the pattern) a trimmer doesn't have to design new ones...but simply follow the existing lines and replicate the same pattern but in your desired materials. All up in vinyl, I reckon you may be up for $1000 - $1500 (trimmed and fitted) depending on what you get done - don't forget headrests, door trim pads, console lid, handbrake handle, auto shifter / manual gear knob (to include the whole nine yards as they say).

My 2c,
Steve

Pretty much Aaron...AFAIK, includes seats, console lid, door trim inserts and maybe an auto / manual covered shift lever. Best is to call Sam at Auto-Image - he does a good job.

I have
MOMO wheel
MOMO Gearknob
MOMO Gearboot
and i will be getting the centre cosole done soon

So it would be just the seats and door inserts. I would be looking to maintain 3 rear seats so it's more of a bolstering and nice leather finish.

I'm looking
