Hi all.
I've got had my car's LPG system fixed. Needed a new converter and had the converter placed in the engine bay as opposed to under the car where it was. Now however, the engine stalls every time you change gears which makes it rather frustrating to drive.... especially when you're wanting to negotiate a corner. Anyone have any idead as to why the engine would stall and how to fix it? |

i'm assuming its a manual?
perhaps the closing of the throttle as you goto put the clutch in means its only running off the idle mixture adjustment, if the new converter has been installed the idle mixture may not be right and it could need to be richened up. ages ago with my old LPG system the idle mixture was too low and if i was coming to a stop the car would stall, just due to throttle closed and no engine load (same as when changing gears)

I THINK YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK FOR A RETUNE AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF KMS THE DIAPHRAM STRETCHS IN THE CONVERTER AND GOES OFF TUNE ,ONLY WHEN NEW AFTER ITS OK

get it dyno tuned for one, its better in the end for fuel and power wise.
and check your revs, put them up maybe a slight touch on (adjust it on your throttle body), small flathead screw. put it up to about 700-780 for gas so it holds its idle, otherwise as mentioned could just be your idle screw (if impco) or others making ur idle mixture to lean. |

Got it half alright atm.
Car doesn't stall when I clutch, but it doesn't idle as smooth as when it came back from the machanic. Ah well. There is also still a rpoblem with the base idle which I'll fix today. The engine won't idle with the ISC disconnected and teh ISC has to do almost all the idle air supply, not just little adjustments. I don't know if Ford adjusted it that way, or if a d***head mechanic adjusted it that way, but it was like that before it got the new converter, so I know it wasn't my mechanic. |

My suggestion with LPG is always, if you dont like the guy who fixes/services ur LPG. take it somewhere else. As theres only a rare few good LPG mechanics around.
Try adjust the base idle, that will solve some problems trust me. Otherwise take it to someone else (im sure ppl can recommend someone for lpg near u here) and see what he says. |
