well it has 2 wires 1+ 1 -
red and black i think either way hook the wires up so it spins the way u want.. can be run in reverse no dramas as for controling it u will need a speed controller of some sort enough to handle i think around 40ish amps

Dont connect it to mains! Youll kill yourself.
Why do you want to run it outside the car? Just to check if it works? In that case just connect it to a 12V car battery. If you want to use it for another purpose and want to run it from mains you need a AC-DC power converter. First you will need to know how many amps of current are required. For that you first need Volts, this will be around 12-14 (use 14 to calculate) since the fans are designed to run off normal car battery voltage. You need the resistance between the fan terminals (this can be measured with even a cheap $10 multimeter) then power supply current is I=V/R. Jaycar do a great 20Amp 13.4 volt power supply for around $50. As for motor speed control it depends on the current but you will have a hard time getting an off-the shelf unit that does any more than 5 Amps. You can build your own but you need to learn alot more about electronics.
