hi, I'm looking at purcahsing new speakers, at the moment im looking at getting the pioneer TS-D161S for the rear
and getting the pioneer TS-C160R for the front my question is, the rear speakers seem fairly simple to wire up however i am unsure of the front, whether the crossover has to be wired up, I was thinking just for a while to simply use the factory tweaters, and just replace the composite speakers in the doors with the new pioneers for the time being, and when I have enough time to play around with it, wire up the rest. Just wondering whether it will still work?? btw, just running the speakers off a HU max output 50x4 Thanks in advance

Yes it will work...but why go to the extra trouble....the tweeters and mirange speaker will work best running via te active crossover like tey were designed.....just wire the tweeters and midrange driver into their respective inputs on the crossover and then the positive and negative from the crossover to the positive and negative speaker wires on the head unit. If you dont follow let me know

I'm running the TS-C160R's as my fronts, off a GM-6100F amp.
Very nice IMO. It's not overly difficult to wire in the crossovers and tweeters, why not just bite the bullet and do it?

If you dont follow let me know ok, so let me see if I understand, firstly I wire the speakers and tweaters into the crossover, after that can I wire the door speakers wires into the +ive and -ive of the crossover? or will I have to go all the way back to the headunit, and what about the tweaters in the dash?

Connect the 'full range' signal from the HU to the crossover, then connect the wires from speaker in door to crossover, and wire the tweeters to the crossover as well

One other thing, did anyone have any trouble with the 61mm woofer mounting depth?

In an ED, no.
Just had to cut back the plastic shielding. About 5-10mm clearance from the window, without spacing it out closer to the door trim (another 5mm there probably).

In my EF XR front doors yes....had to trim the door holes to widen them for 6.5" Alpine Type-R front splits but depth was very close....is yours looking to hit te windscreen ? May have to spend some etc cash on a thin mdf spaceror start going custom wth a door pod...

thanks for all the info guys, I got a few quotes today, just wondering does $540 for both sets of speakers sound about right?

I paid $230 I think for my TS-C160R's off of E-bay, but that doesn't sound like a bad price for both, seeing as you'll get warranty and support, etc.
