I would like to get hold of an engine for an EL. It must be a hybrid. All I require is the block c/w pistons, rods, crank, and timing gears, timing cover, sump, head with rockers. Maybe someone can help? I live in Melbourne, but will travel (a bit) to buy. I don't want anything that has had spun bearings or oil starved head/crank please. Rods out the side also not considered.

I wouild like to keep the hybrid configuration, as I have a hybrid motor already. I want to try some porting etc., and take time to do it while i am still driving the car. I can see this project taking anything up to 6 months or more. I am in no rush. Anyway, NSW would be a bit hard to get the motor from. Thanks for the offer anyway. As I said, I am not in a hurry

Hybrid would be few and far between,
either get a tired EF/L motor and swap it and do yours up or get an AU but you need to modify a few things to get it to fit.
Cheers

I know hybrids are as rare as rocking horse poop, but I have a couple of wreckers looking, and as I said, I'm not in a hurry, I can wait. It's gotta be an EL for the distributor. I have thought about EB head, as I know they flow better, but I have decided to stick with the AU head.

The other altenative of course is to find a tired EL motor, and a tired AU head. That would probably do too. But I think the hybrids had the AU crank, which I think has more, or bigger, mains.

I may be entirely wrong about that tho'

The cam angle sensor in the EF can be removed and the distributor put in so an EF will be OK.
