Was talking to the builders at my house this morning, he was driving in a huge old 1975 or 76 Ford F250. Was telling me he payed $7,500 for it, been through 3 engines already. It's licenced to carry 5 tonnes, but he carried 7.2 no problems. At this point I was presuming it was a big 351 or something, turns out there just 6 bangers. That's a fair load for an old 6 banger to lug around - 7.2 tone!

Bingo. Yanks had another range of 6's. The 170-200-221-250-3.9-4.0 6's we had here are the "small block" 6cyl. Yanks had the 300ci(4.9L) 6cyl.

For an engine of 4.9 lt , 7.2 tonne is a lot to lug around, esp if the engine is a petrol engine. It would definatly be working hard. If he has been thru 3 engines i would take it that the 7.2 wasn't without problems as stated, unless the car has been thru 3 engines since new, then i would say that's almost a non issue, considering the vehicles age and probably the million kms it might have travelled in it's life.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

there was one forsale on ebay ages back, they are slightly longer than our i6's but it would be fun to make one fit!
