I am looking to put in a Alarm in my Fairmont that will work with the existing Smartlock system. I know there out there, but which one is the best. Any ideas?

I just installed the Rhino "upgrade" alarm into my EL Fairmont. Uses the standard remotes, blackwired, many programmable features, battery back up siren, boot and bonnet protected, extra immobilizer points, diagnostics... can't think what else. Anyway, I'm very impressed with it so far.

Darin.

Thanks for that Darin, about what price would I be looking at?

I just kept the smartlock system in my ED and added an alarm/ibbm system onto it ...

Heard mixed stories about aftermarket alarms stuffing up smartlock, some do, some dont, I've never had any problems with it ..

Don't use the smartlock remotes anymore eaither..

This is the second car I've had with upgrade alarms, last one was an XH ute and was fitted with a Vision ugrade. Neither system has given me any trouble. I think a lot of problems with alarms are to do with the installation, not the product.
I like the upgrade choice over a full independant alarm because you can easily keep all the factory features like door relocking if you don't open one, interior light delay, boot release etc, and a factory remote is hell easy to replace and reprogram if you break/lose yours.

I picked up the rhino quite cheap from an installer, $250 + postage. Supposedly they retail for $450 he told me, I'm guessing that's installed.
I installed mine myself, but if you don't have your cars wiring diagrams and a good electrical knowledge I recommend paying someone to do it!!

Rhino RA works fine along with smartlock.
