Driving around this morning, had about 1/4 tank left. All of a sudden low fuel alarm goes off on trip computer and says I have 35k's to go. What happened to the 80k & 60k warning? I drove around for about 10-15 mins more, by the time I got to a servo range had shot up to 95k's
Any Ideas?

It works from your current L/100 reading and how much fuel is left in the tank. You can fool it easily, but having low fuel, and giving it a bit of right foot action, it'll quickly say - OMG you're flogging me, the fuel will be used quickly, I better drop my range and sound a warning. Start driving miss daisy again, and the trip comp will recalculate and raise the distance to empty (range).

Funny thing was I was driving miss daisy, I had my mother-in-law with me, and alarm went off while I was stopped at the lights.
After dropping her off, I drove my normal self (harder) and the range climbs back up

Just had a quick check of the manual. Did the fuel gauge dip to empty at the time? Could be a fauly fuel sensor connector. Also could be sus connector to Trip computer

Thanks for the tip. Yes it did dip a little enough to turn the warning light on, while I kept driving the fuel gauge slowly came back up to 1/4. As its only done it the once I'll just keep an eye for now.

Speaking of funny behaviour. Mine almost left me stuck today. grrr.
Left work yesterday, light was on, TC said 80ks to empty. No worries I though, was to buggered to get fuel yesterday arvo, so went home (it's a 40k round trip home to work, so I had plenty). Anyway, heading out today, only just made it to the servo car lost all power it was like driving a commodore and TC hadn't yet given the 40K warning (still said range was 45). grrr. In the past it's always been pesimistic showing 40k warning and there was still plenty of fuel left. Oh well, I won't be so lazy next time.
