Can some one tell me what the BEM does/controls in ED Falcon's/Fairlanes? It should be RED in colour (High Series). Also how can you find out if the BEM is faulty?

The BEM / Central control module mainly is a box to turn stuff on / off. I cant find anything in the workshop manual to suggest what coulur they should be for each model. My smart lock module is Green. I must check the colour of the control module.

From the manual the high series control module has 24 pins and the GL/ Spac one has 14 pins

According to the manual and it is not real clear. It controls arial height, light dimmer settings, detects door handle open on high series cars, park lamp. That is all I can gather from the diagram.

ahh ok! cause i got a prob with my adjustable ariel height thing and the drivers door simble on the dash is flapping open/close when ever the car is on. I'm not sure if its the BEM thats at fault

Could be just dodgie connections. I think the same module does the door open detect for the dash etc. It is located just above the hand brake. Try unpluging the unit and reseating the connecitons.

Are you sure you're looking at the right unit?

Smartlock is normally red.

BEM is vertical, lying on its side and is next to the handbrake, not above it.

Sturmovik is right. THe smart lock is directly above the hand brake. The control module is on its side next to the Smart lock module and depending on the series of car will have either a 24pin+6pin pug or a 14 pin plug.
