Just wanting to get an idea of what colour control module is in each type of car. The control module controls basic stuff like light diming, radio aerial position and has some smart lock inputs etc. I am lead to believe that the GLI / Spac and Futura have one verson with 14 pins and the Fairmont, Fairlane, LTD have a 24 pin module.

The module is located under the dash on its side just to the left of the hand brake.
There is also another module in the same location on the EBII/ED and high series equivelant just above the hand brake that controls the smart lock system and sits flat.
In the ED sprint this module is yellow and has 26 pins and 20 pins are used.

I have a ED XR8 sprint and my module is green with 14 pins.
I am lead to understand that a NC II is Red.?

I plan to do a few electricl upgrades and suspect cars that have trip computer and or aerial switch (even if they are low series) have a high series dash loom installed.

Can you please advise your model and what colour the control module is and if you have options such as the trip computer installed and if you have the aerial switch installed.
Thanks.

My ED XR6 one was blue with one plug, 14 pins. But ive done a full Fairmont dash conversion which has green with one 24 pin plug and one with 6pins.
The NCII Fairlane Dash ive got has a green one too I think.

Recently I also bought a brand new green, black and grey one off ebay.

Black has one 24pin plug and a 4pin plug (its a 6pin plug with only 4pins)

Grey has one 24 pin and one 6 pin plug

Not sure what model the grey and black one is for? Though its for an EA-EBI as the part number starts with 87DA

In regards to the smartlock module, My XR6, Fairmont and Fairlane are all red.
The dash wiring was actually different for the smartlock in the Fairmont and XR6, which had me worried. The plug was the same, but some of the colours of the wires and the location of wires were different.

But I still used my smartlock module with the Fairmont dash and it works fine.

Also in regards to aerial switches. My Fairmont had it intergrated into the main loom.
This ED Fairmont at the wreckers had a seperate wiring loom for the electic aerial, im not sure if it was custom, but it looks factory. It tapped into the main loom via a 'scotch lock' to get its 12v. It also has a relay as part of it.

Sturmovik,
What sort of price range did the wreckers / ebay charge you for the loom / dash / control modules?
Can you tell me what pin numbers the pins are that are missing from the 6 pin plug and I may be able to figure it out from the wiring diagram?

Mate, I am not sure about the part numbers. But.
How many pins in the plugs?
Where were they located?
The Smart lock module mounts directly above the hand brake.
The control module is on its side next to the smart lock module (on the left if sitting in the drivers seat.)

The high series module should have more pins / plug than the smart lock system

the red one was sitting above the hand brake, the green one to the side.

The green one has 24 pin plug and another 6 pin plug next to it.

The red one has a 26 pin plug

Ah ok. So the colour does not seem to matter. As mine is Green and only has 14 pin plug (for the control module). THe 26 ping plug (red) is for Smartlock..

For all others please post the part numbers on the modules that you have (if you can see them)

Mate,
Yep I understand that. I am trying to figure out what cars came with what Control module.
I thought the type related to colour. But this is not right as your high series is Green and my low series is also green.

The main way to tell is the plug that goes into it. There is a 14pin plug on the low and 24+6pin plug on the high.

i have seen Red BEM's which is why i thought my smartlock module was in fact in BEM, when it wasn't

Well there the colours from my 1994 model. Dunno what colours they were in EB2's and stuff

I have a Fairmont wreck so I swapped everything that I needed from it.
I got the three BEMs off ebay for $13, which was a bargain considering they were brand new! The pins missing from the black one is number 4 and 5 (I think)

Ah ok. Thanks.
FRom the manual I cant tell what pin 4/5 do.
$13 seems to be a good price for the control mod. I wonder what weckers charge. Will also need a fairmont / High series loom.
