Hey there, I own a stockish EL Ghia V8.

What I wanted to know was if I had someone port the E7's that are on it now, (a good job, for a good price) , will that cause any problems with the car? (ie, car running like s**t, cause the ecu cant handle it).? Or will the car run fine, with a mild improvement?

I know you guys will say there is no point in getting this done, but If i got it done, I just wanted to know if the car would still run fine.

I understand there will be minimal improvement.

I would be getting a cam and the heads ported first, then looking at the manifold and maf.

The car will run fine, MAF based EEC's like that on the V8's are very good at adapting to changes.

Personally I would not port the heads unless you did the work yourself or got it done very cheaply. You will see some gains however GT40P heads can be bought fairly cheaply and will outflow even a fairly heavily ported E7. If you do go ahead and port the E7's, port the manifold at the same time. The maniold is easy to port so it won't take long to do.

I got 245.5 hp at the wheels with my XR8 using the E7 heads and HO manifold (heavily ported) but I find down low they get a bit sluggish, I have noticed recently on Ebay there are some heads by procomp for $900 bare or 1600 assembled, for the port work done on my heads I would see it a cheaper option buying these, my engine isn't quite stock though so I don't think many 5.0 HO engines would get this much without other mods.

Steve

custom crow cam, heavily (& I mean HEAVILY) ported heads ,manifold also including even welding for more thickness on the walls! 1.72 roller rockers ,stud girdles, ballanced bottom end, 75mm mafs, 65m throttle body for daily driving 82mm for playing with 4 cylinders on friday nights!, tricked computer, custom 3 1/8'' tuned exhaust, and lots of other goodies.
the list has set me back $3G to date ,but I know some good people in the buisness otherwise probably $5G more realistic
Just stroke it , its cheaper!
cheers Kenny
