Hey there I just found some more pics of my 4V heads during the porting process, I am about to either weld the "floors" or get some tongues to reduce the height, but am unsure what way to go yet?
has anyone fitted these tongues before? how well do they fit the port? and how do they stay in position? cheers kenny; and yes that is a real golf ball!

In final trim these heads produced 581hp (348cfm inlet/270 cfm exhaust) @ 6800rpm, with a cam with 270degrees @ .050'' and .680''/.720'' lift, mind you the car wouldn't idle under 1200rpm and was a slug until 4000rpm.
If I can keep these figures close I think I can hit 600hp on my next 416cu'' clevo ,with the assistance of a 671 of a***!

If you buy off-the-shelf tongues for 4V's they are cast to fit unported heads. So they won't actually fit your heads very well.
I made tongues for my cleveland intake manifold to better align with the 3V heads. I took molds of the ports with casting resin, knocked them out then had them cast in aluminium. Then I glued and bolted them into the intake with Aluminium putty F and 5mm stainless steel bolts and then ported them to match the heads. You would need to do the same thing or use a lot more ally putty when you glue the off-the-shelf type in. Pete. |

Pete. you couldn't give me a number or contact info on who could cast these please, I love these heads as they flow more than yates & other competition heads , but they are just too slow in velocity under 4000rpm as they were ported for drag type applications (5000-8000rpm) the exhaust is getting port plates (the ones where you mill the port off the head & fabricate a high port plate that raises the port by 3/4'') thanks Pete this advice is probbaly how I will overcome this prob, kenny

XE falcon ,street registered best time of 10.91 sec , but very thirsty! 2km-Litre in street trim and 2 bottles of octane booster to a tank but it was all worth it when you get up on 2 wheels while lining up a rex at the lights!!

You'll need to make the port smooth so that when you take a mold of them you can actually get the plug back out. The casting resin is called "Ebalta" and you need to coat the ports with a mold release. I used this resin which is like runny white glue which you just paint on. When you break out the solidified Ebalta from the ports you may have breakages but you can glue the pieces back together afterwards with super glue. Pete. |

Here's a pic of my Offy Port-O with the tongues bolted in place.
I'll post up some other ones I have showing the pieces before assembly. |
