My friend has put a V8 out of a 94 Fairlane into an older car & has wired in the standard computer but is having problems getting it running right because it is missing Smartlock etc that the original Fairlane had so he was wondering is there away around this or can someone can disable this feature or trick the computer to run right. He says he knows the way around it with the Holden system but hasn't had to do it on a Ford before.
If it anyone can point us in the right direction it would be much appreciated |

its probly not gonna help too much but , the Body Electronics module (BEM) has to match the ignision set if its a smartlock system. when u turn the key on, the ignition sends the BEM 3 codes the BEM has to see at least 2 out of 3 codes for your startermotor and fuel injection system to enable. i'm not too sure how this all ties in with the computer.

If it anyone can point us in the right direction it would be much appreciated Getting it running right? He wouldn't be able to start it if it's SmartLocked. It would turn over but the ECU will not fire the injectors until the SmartLock signal is Rxd from the BEM. I think it can be disabled using TwEECer. Ask XR9UTE on this forum. He'll be able to confirm if TwEECer can disable EEC pin 4.

Yeah we got it to run & idle just not drive I wont tell you how cause it was to dodgy lol but we have found a solution Catle Auto Electric in Victoria sell apart which tricks the computer there website is http://www.castleauto.com.au/ if anyone has the same problem we did

it's a stab but perhaps if you found out what voltage the BEM sent to the ECU to tell it that it can now let the engine start you could trick it

The signal is a digitally encoded set of pulses. Have fun replicating it. It is however, the same signal for all Smartlock vehicles. It is not unique to the individual vehicle unlike the ignition lock/key codes to the BEM. MrJuicy's mate obviously got around it if it fired. Could be a limp mode problem there re gear select problems. Pull the codes MrJuicy.
