in my posession soon will be a XR6 manual ECU thanks to fern tree auto salvage. is it a staight swap or is there anything else i need to change? i also dont know if my manual tranny has a neutral drive switch as it is from a eb or ed? do i need a neutral drive switch? and can one be installed into my gearbox? any advice would be appriciated.

if u have a manual car and have a manual ecu it is a straight swap!

yep straight in
the only difference you'll notice is... the 300 odd bux u spent! (unless u have a modded cam) I have 2XR ECU's and one std I've ran 3 types on the one dyno same results each time (after run in of course) I found the standard 4DAD ecu runs cleaner and doesn't give me richness when i boot it. but then again.... I have the XR one in my car coz....its XR

naa i dont realy care mouch for any preformance gain from it i just want the car to run right idle stedy and my fans to run at the right speeds.
coz at the moment i wired in a resistor to the trans temp senstor so the fans arnt running all the time but without them running the car simetimes likes to run a little hotter then it should, so i put a switch in so the fans can be manualy activated (by open circuting tranny temp sensor) . i think the auto ecu needs to see feedback from tranny temp sensor and coolant temp to be able to control fan speeds. not a just fixed resistance from the tranny. also since i wired in a resistor to tell the car its in drive it runs a lot smoother and better economy but it feels slugish like its lacking torque from take off until it hits a certain rev point where it seems to gain power. hopefully a manual ecu will fix the problem.

Yeah you will find the auto ECU performs torque reduction if the trans temp gets too hot (or the ecu thinks it's so). I wouldn't run it in drive as the ecu will also be putting torque reduction on when the auto ecu tries to change gear.
There is also a whole bunch of other minor stuff manual ecu's do too.

my car is just a pain in the a** driving through the city hopefully the manual ecu will make it a better car to drive.
