Did you have to oull out the engine to do the port and Polish, I think that Iwould be wasting my time doing it on a stock engine right?
Also time and tools. I have never pulled apart an engine, I dont even think I would know where to start

Sorry to here it turned out to be the head. Not to worry its only money!
Cost me $715 to have someone do it for me, including machining, pressure testing and 2 year nationwide warranty.

I have never pulled apart an engine, I dont even think I would know where to start even if you bought yourself a knuckle bar, an impact socket and a torque wrench you'd still be halving your costs doing it yourself. No i didn't pull the engine out. Might be worth changing the cam if you pull the head off.

Is it worth me doing all the top end gaskets like head gasket, rocker cover gasket, inlet manifold gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, valve stem seals, thermostat housing gasket ect.
Or will that just add expense that is not really needed?

Or will that just add expense that is not really needed? If you get a VRS set (valve regrind set) all those gaskets are included. To do the job you are going to have to remove rocker cover, inlet & exhaust manifolds & thermostat housing anyway. If you can get hold of a valve spring compressor then the seal would be worth the extra effort.

It depends on the condition of the car overall. Head gaskets are a fairly common problem on EA & EB's, in fact I did 2 on my EA and I still kept the car for 7 years. It was the only major problem I had with it.

Is it worth me fixing this problem and just getting that done, because I am thinking that a stage 1 IT's looks alright. Do they have workshops in Melbourne at all, because I am a little interested?
