Hi guys! Yesterday I stuffed up mu engine on ED. The bolt that keeps timing chain on camshaft has come off and you can guess what happened then. Anyway, I've decided to put another engine in. Do you know is it possible to fit EF or EL engine into ED and what modification should be done?

EF and EL engines will bolt straight up into your ED. 99% sure that the engine mounts will bolt up the same way, even though the EF/L mounts are hydraulic compared to rubber mounts in ED. Intake and exhaust manifolds will still fit on too.

I have an ef block in my eb, exactly same, just use the ed mounts. Also remember if u use the later model engine u will need an equivelent model ecu, or an appropriate aftermarket item.

And youll need to run extra wires for the intake manifold etc. Its easier to just use your existing manifolds, but either is possible!

Only if you use the WHOLE EL engine. If you get a long motor (no manifolds, dizzy etc) then theres no need to run extra wires or change ECU. |

So, you guys think there should be no problems, apart with engine mounts and ECU unit if i want to change whole engine. Thanx for advice.

There will be a few more probs.
EF uses coil pack so an EL engine would be best. Then they also use serpentine belt and most of your accessories (alt.s/pump, a/c pump etc) wont fit. Also radiator lower pipe is a different size because the water pump size is different. Its not impossible as many have done this various ways, but it needs carefull consideration on which way to go and get all the correct pieces before u start. Or you may be off the road longer than u reconed on and it may end up costing u much more than u anticipated. I am not trying to put you off, but I am considering it in the future an have seen whats necessary.
