My diff seal plug needs to be replaced, i was told by Mr Ford service man it will hold up cos its a minor leak, until i had some extra $$$ now i looked under my car, and it looks like my whole diff, has been dipped in oil! Can this re replaced at home or is it something difficult that involves more labour than it does the cost of the part ?

well there are two plugs, one to fill and one to empty ... without a pic and you say your diff looks like it is dunked in oil I'll assume it is the filler plug which is leaking.

Just a big fat but short bolt with a washer on it mate - head off to repco and replace the washer!

uh huh ... just for the sake of it, its a big 50c sized bolt on the top left of my dif .. is this the filler plug you speak of ?

Also, and this one I thik I will need some photos of, but at the other end of the tailshaft, almost before it ducks under the transmssion plate ,there is a almost " L" shaped part that derives from the tailshaft downward to the ground, this thing is completly soaked in oil, and looks like its coming from the driveshaft, or somewhere up there , will post pics up soon,
