What temp does the I6 sit around?
i've just got my megasquirt II in reading the sensors andi notice that it sits around 72c.... This also makes the Megasquirt II "warm up enrichment" light flicker on and off as its just around the warm up temp. I think i can stop that by lowering warm up values a bit below 70c... Other thing i've noticed is my cars temp gauge sits just above the blue bit (ebII) soo.. is my car sitting at the right temp, or is it too cold? |

72? that seeems way to cold to me...
my ef runs at 92-98.... 92 degree thermostat

They all run the 92 degree thermostat, so it should hover around the 91 to 94 degress when finally up to temp.
If its 72, either you got a dud (read always partially open) thermostat, or you have a lower temp one installed. |

well i drove to work today (around 20min drive) and it was no where near 90c........ ever since i've had teh car it normally sits just above the blue on the gauge.. which apparently corresponds to 72c or so. the temperature does come up to say the R in normal when its a hot day and i'm sitting at the lights or *cough* kfc drive through... should i look at new thermostat? how much is a thermostat + gasket? (i'm guessing thats all i'd need..) |

It'll cost you just under $30 for a new genuine thermostat and O ring from Ford.

i run the cooler 72oC(?) thermostat in summer - the ford taxi thermo - with the temps over here, i'm not interested in having it running too hot

One of the nice little factory ECU features is a lean cruise mode to increase the fuel economy.
This only works when the engine gets to its expected operating temperature. So if you use a colder thermostat with a factory ecu, you are generally doing yourself a disservice and using more fuel than necessary when cruising. But seeing as you have an aftermarket fuel controller, you might be able to work around that and keep the lower running temperature to your advantage. |

hmm good point arm79...
i think i'll leave it for now.. unless i run into more problems who cares i suppose? I mean its been like that since i got it in march and i haven't ran into any temp related problems (no overheating at all, or the like) and I haven't been using s**t of fuel so if its not broken why fix it? |

This morning on the way to work i logged the trip on my MSII...
Seems my CLT temp didnt go above say 75c....... even when i had throttle at 100% upto about 190km/h *shrug* so I must have a cold thermostat in it!

... or your MS is reading incorrectly. Does it display the correct temp in the morning when starting from cold?
