would having a xr6 fuel reg fitted have any advantage over the standard reg if im using a xr computer?

(reason im asking is im tryin anythin to find out the cause of a flatspot i got, and so far replaced the entire ignition and various other parts)

Maybe, but you have changed alot of other stuff on that engine so the realtively small change of fuel pressure reg will only make a tiny difference either way.
Perhaps time to look at propper tuning.

Is your ECU a manual ECU? Either way perhaps a chiptorque chip?
