Been having a headscratch about whether you could 'spoof' the crank angle sensor on an EF, by a gizmo between the sensor and the loom where you use electronics to 'count' the pulses since the missing tooth, and delay them by as many teeth as you want. Now at first glance this only retards the timing, but a 350 degree lag is effectively a 10 degree lead, you are just one rev behind what the engine is doing. At idle, 600rpm (say) = 10 revs per second. Your RPM would have to change significantly in 0.1 seconds to affect the timing.
I'll have to to the maths properly before I start looking at a circuit to do that. If the maths says it's a goer, and given that my EL doesn't have need for such gadgetry, I may be hunting guinea pigs over Christmas..... Any thoughts, comments, suggestions? Cheers, Dang. |

Why bother? The EF system with its knock sensor feedback is fairly good. At most you will get a few extra degrees advance in the low to mid range but the power gains would be minimal IMO.

It would be worth it if you're running LPG - I now have more power on LPG than I had before the conversion on petrol, all I did was dialled in about 5-7 degrees more timing in.
Although I have an EL with a dizzy.... |

Make yourself an adjustable mount for the sensor. Then you can just move it like a distributor.
