There's a little screw on the throttle body that you can turn clock wise to adjust the idle up, try turning that up a little bit for starters...
However it sounds like your ISC solenoid is rooted, its the little round thing that sits on top of the throttle body. You can try cleaning it out according to the instruction in the documents section of this site to see if it fixes it, if not - you will just have to get a new one. |

yeah its no good compensating for something else dodgy by just upping the base idle - so make sure you get to the base of the problem. i had the same kinda issue, but mine wouldn't drop into 4th gear etc - ended up being a dodgy TPS. but, having a mate whos an apprentice mechanic, things get done a lot better, and cheaper... hehe

Yep sounds like ISC had same thing with EB.
Who are these people masquerading as auto electricians and mechanics??? Cheers

I recon this is the Hall effect device on the side of the distributor breaking down.
It is an Electronic pickup for the timing, a small light grey thing with electrical connectors just replace it and dont forget the conducting compound (see a good Auto sparkie). The other thing is to check each of the spark plug leads they could be breaking down. Put a multimeter across each lead and the resistance should be less than 20,000 Ohms.

Yeah Any Mechanic Should Be Able To Work Out Things Like That. Then Again My Mechanic Has Never Played With Vernier Cam Gear Before And Had A s**t Of Trouble With That. But Yeah Easy Job To Get THta Cleaned Out If Still Causeing Trouble I Might Have A Complete Throttle Body For Ya.

Well, if the car started then the problem wasn't the battery, so your mechanic shouldn't have put a new battery in.
Since the computer has been unplugged, it will take 1-2 weeks for the car to go back to 'normal' if you keep driving it. In that time, it might stall/splutter etc etc, but should "fix itself" if everything is ok. If it gets to 2 weeks and it's still stalling, then you should worry about doing something else to fix the problem.

It's pretty hard to pin point as it could be sooo many different things! If it isn't your ISC, try getting your mechanic to swap the ECU and see if that has any effect.
Good luck! |
