kev, power is power, and 4ga between your amp and subs is pure overkill, regardless of wether it's sony, JL audio, Soundstream or Tru-tech

8 guase is sufficant enough, it can carry 70+ amps, no way in hell can an amp use more than that as large as possible pfft, im running two amps a 250 RMS Amp for a 250 RMS sub and a 4 ch 55 RMS each, on an 8 guage wire, larger the better pfft...

read it again, he isnt asking about power cable between the battery and the amp, he is asking about SPEAKER CABLE between the amp and his subwoofers

i wouldnt trust 8ga to carry 70+ amps of raw power for any distance.....

http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums ... opic=42643

that gives a good idea on what a cables current capacity is

the simple solution is that a wider cable has more bandwith, so use the fattest cable that will fit in your terminals. Easy :P will prolly only b 8 or 12gu any way :D

Mate come down ... im sure evryone can gaher what he meant.

It was actually proven on a sine wave converter, voltmeter and some other tool that mine subs werent getting the full benefit from an 8 guage speaker cable but after the 4 gauge went in it ran better....

The more current that can be provided the better. (and yes i know only to an extent where any larger will just be useless excess)

But for kermey 12 or 8 as most have stated

kev, its the same argument that hardcore audiophiles use to justify the exorbident amounts they spend on monster speaker cables and the like..... neither of us will win here
