Just added a mono/block and a set of splits to my system...

Recently i have begun to get intereference in my 6 x 9's and splits, the 6 x 9's are clarion 3 ways and the splits are brand new 6.5" clarion items, which led me to believe that it was the 4 channel amp running them...

I changed one RCA lead which was no good which cleaned up some of this intereference, but there is still some there...

The intereference doesnt change with engine speed, which makes me think the RCA's are fine. With the volume on 0, the intereference disappers, it comes on with the volume on 1 and won't become any louder regardless of volume levels...

I'm thinking the amp running these speakers is f**k. However, I'd thought i'd ask before i run out and buy a new one....

Any ideas....?

Yeah id try a few more things before u go out and spend money on a new amp.

You can always hook the speakers up to your head unit and see if the interference disappears.

Other than that just ruleout things like all wires are getting proper contct with the terminals.

Speaker cable has plenty of space from the power and earth cable.

Make sure you have clean earthing areas (filed back to metal - with good connection to terminals)

And i take it the interference wasnever there til the new mono block amp and splits were installed ?

Just give us a quick run down on the list of equipment etc u got in the car now.

Sony Xplod MP3 Head Unit
Boss BA2900 (4 Channel)
Clarion APA2001 (Mono/Block)
Clarion 6.5" Splits
Clarion 3 Way 6 x 9's
2 x Boss 12" Subs

The intereference developed a short time after I installed the splits and amp, at most it would have been a week after....

I have already tried earthing it to another spot which didn't clear it up at all...

Keep the ideas coming and thanks for the help guys...
