Am looking at changing diff gears in the old girl, not sure of current ratio, but would be looking at 3.7 or 3.9. Reason for this is that am crossing the line at 142kph on the 1/4, and am still in 2nd. I have heard that the comp changes the gears at a set road speed, if this is the case, then changing diff gears will not help as the car will never reach 145 with the lower gears. Can anyone tell me if this is true, if it is any1 got a complete XR8 5 speed, flywheel, clutch, pedal box, the works!!!

Im thinkin that the computer changes the gears 4 the auto on road speed and going 3.7s is the best 4 manuals as 3.9s is to low 4 first gear... Im getttin 3.73 in my auto 6 up from 3.08 im sure it will make HEAPS of difference

ive just put 3.9 diff gears in my xr8 and its nmanual . im hgappy with it the car is much more responsive snaps gears alot harder and 4th and 5th gears now pull quite hard even at lower speeds.
the only downside to it is that now that the car flies thru the gears so quick u can reallly feel just how much the stock cam just isnt up to the task i need a nice lumpy cam just to give it that extra pull to fully take advantage of the gears. the hardest part about it all is learning how to take off hard as now any sort of hard take off results in a heep of wheelspin but its a problem that i dont mind trying to overcome and having fun in the process

Cam ?? or crappy induction?? As in heads, inlet and maf ????

yeh heads too but that costs a lto more and is planned for later down the track the induction should be alright dont i have the 70 mm maf and tb. id alo like one of those trickflow mainfolds
but i think a cam would be a good start
