After about 500kms since Scotty (RIP) put my cam in, the motor has been really loud. Rattling its tits off at anything over 1000rpm.
Is it my lifters? Did scott(rip) shim it wrong?? What parts do i need to replace so i can stop this noise. makes the car sound liek s**t.. thanks guys.. |

Could be your lifters, might be something else. My cars making some really bad sounds :S Sounds rattly at idle, and makes a sort of sloshing noise... Not good. Might be time to get myself a cam and start doing the lifters etc while its going in.

doubt he would of shimed it wrong
btw 9months most prolly the lifters are gone.. strange it above 1000rpm as usally it low oil pressure at idle that cause them to rattle.. mm might have a exhuast leak?

check your timing chain guides, they need to come loose a bit to do a cam swap sometimes, maybe scott(rip) did not retension them up right? ... (im sure he would of though) Someone bought a cam from me, installed it, and got the rattling sound.
Found it was the timing chain guide tensoner that sits underneath the power steering up was not tight enough . cheers, hope that heaps. |

I find the same problem with the wifes EF, only happens during start up when parked in a steep area. I guess the grankshaft is submerge where the oil level is at its highest, sloshing.

thanks for that.

yeah mine does the same thing when i start on a hill, it does it all the time on my driveway. start and try to go up hill , into the garage and the thing stalls or really tries to.
so you guys think it could be the auto's converter, i needed an excuse to get a high-stall. lol |

thanks for that

Do you know what cam it is?
I recently had my engine builder try to find a rattling noise that my engine was making [6 months old], and after 2 weeks of replacing lifters and timing chain guides, he gave my cam supplier a call to find out that the sound is caused by "backlash on the cam" and is meant to be their. This type of cam is commenly used by fordmod members.
