the ole XR is playing up. Have replaced spark plugs and fuel filter.

It stutters while driving, idles rough at times (esp with a/c running).


how easy is it to change spark plug leads on and EF XR6 ??

recommend any brands ?

pretty easy to do, take ya airbox out so u can get ya arm under the inlet manifold, do it when its cold as well, or u might geta little bit of an ouch.
as for leads i got the bosch sport ones they like 8mm one, or u can just get the standard motorcraft ones from ford, they very good as well and last long time.

They should just pull off and the order should be marked out...

They dont come off the manifold, but rather the distributor. They just lift off nice and easily, and can make a bit of a snap sound going back on. Depends on the leads.

you will be able to get 1 2 and 3 from the front of the car but you will find it easier to get 4 5 and 6 from underneath, jack her up, slide on under, your head is pretty much inline with the back of the engine, reach on up an unplug em, just do one at a time so you don't get all your leads mixxed up, word of warning the kit costs about $70 or so.

I had a similar problem turned out to be the temperature sender, it played funny buggers with the ecu.
