i have a ef falcon on gas (non tickford), and want to get some power out of it.
i have been told by a few auto gas shops that gas runs at an equivilant to 105~108 ron, and due to this, the car can run higher compression. i am hoping to get a alted stage 2 or 3 cam(when they come out), but would i have probs with clearances if i get the head shaved??? at the moment i have a venturi style mixer, would i be wrong in thinking that a GRA gas carbie would give me better air-flow into the motor, thus iliminating the "gas intake restriction". what would be the best (cost effective) way of tuning my ignition maps to better run with gas. i know there are some good gas cars here and i would like to hear the sugestions you guys come up with. thank you. |

with the ef you can't adjust the timing. best way to get your ignition maps to suit the gas is to find a Factory Ford EF ECU for a car fitted with the Tickford Gas System, but good luck doing finding one seem to be rarer than XR6 ones.
Also run the XR6/Tickford spark plugs. And make sure your ignition leads are up to scratch. I dunno anything about the GRA gas carbie, but I once saw on eBay.com.au yonks ago now and I regreat not buying it to take a closer look, a full replacement intake manifold with a build in mixer and that. |
