hey, currently have some nkg sparks, had em for ages, n bosch leads, looking to get some thick leads, n new better spark plugs, can anyone point me in a direction of brand and price?, i dont want to just replace the same ones, i herd bigger leads spark better anyway...

I'm pretty sure NGK R Series are jsut there standard Falcooon plug. If you want to step up get the Platinums or the Iridiums. Avaliable at most joints.

i,d go for a new bosch coil and lead set from super cheap, about $55 for the coil, $5 a lead ,plugs ?,the standard bosch black transister coil will put out over 40000 volts , thats were youre going to notice the difference.try the coil if you dont think it worked take it back ,i bet you keep it. you take a look at all the group A cars running bosch products

a little off topic, but is upgrading the coil to a more powerfull one going to be of any benefit? have seen a few aftermarket ones around but always thought the factory one was up to the job?

Doesn't make much of a difference at all, if any. If you supercharge or turbocharge your engine, then you need a more powerful spark to ignite the mix.

As for a standard N/A setup it doesn't matter. Ya see, a spark plug only draws enough power to create the spark. The whole way it works is the charge builds up till it's enough to jump the gap then that's that. It's all over for that stroke.

If that spark occurs @ 10,000 volts, then putting a 200,000 volt coil it will still result in the spark being made @ 10,000 volts. So you don't get any benefit what-so-ever and any performance gain you might realise is because you're carrying less weight in your wallet.

One of the main reasons why you run a better coil in race cars is to counteract ignition breakdown as the more powerful coils have a quicker recharge time.

If you want good leads, go magnecore or there's another mob called queensland ignition (?) I can't remember their name. Either of those places will sell better leads than anything you get from supercheap/repco/bursons. Also, the magnecore leads last the life of the car. Any of the mainstream brands are good for 50,000km at best and some will only last you 10,000km before they start to degrade.
