With extractors for the 4.0L I6, is it better to have bigger or small primary and secondary pipes? Reason I ask is that there are three I'm currently looking at (won't mention names, but here's the specs):
*A - Primary: 43mm, Secondary 48mm. *B - Primary: 41mm, Secondary 48mm. *C - Primary: 38mm, Secondary 44mm. Or do you have to look at more than just these sizes? |

from what i have been told a genral street car needs the smaller primaries
while the race cars ie super saloon cars run teh bigger primaries

Thats exactly right,
Smaller and more restricted pipes will increase low and mid end torque/power Longer less restricted pipes will give you less power down low, but increased high end torque, Yes.. for racing.

This is true also. Pipe length (primary and secondary) number of bends, type of bend (mandrel or press), design of header (6-2-1, 6-3-1 etc) are also major factors. |

Ok, if what Frank said first (and what Slicer backed) is true, then the Pacemaker Compeition headers are the way to go for street driving, as they are C, with the smallest Primaries and Secondaries.
B is the normal Paceies and A is some Genies (I think) that I found on eBay.com.au... |

JMM race series run a 6-2-1 set up with 35mm primaries at an average of 356mm long and 48mm secondaries at an average of 675mm long just as a comparison. The rule of thumb gas flow at your desired peak RPM should be between 280-300 feet per second

With only my JMM's and a slightly bigger cam I actually had more power on the dyno last saturday that a fair few other modded cars running mild cam ie wade 1004 and comparible headers. It all comes down to what TWRXZOIUFLH7 said............Price. I paid $645 for mine in only black finish

Ive got race series ones, and I wouldnt reconmend HPC coating based on performance, as you wont notice any. It looks good but at such a cost I decided to pass
