Hey :-)

Would anyone have a photo or diagram of where the heater hoses are located on the '99 AU (Series 1).

ok

the heater hose is connected to the bottom of the thermostat housing!!!!
so when u take the top off the housing and remove the thermostat there is a pipe the leads to unbder the intake manifiold the heater hose

Now I am understanding! :-) hehe

According to the 'service and repair manual' the thermostat gasket should be replaced whenever the thermostat is removed.

Is this a precautionary measure or must it be done?

I assume the gasket is only a few dollars so I had might as well replace it anyway.

Ha ha l posted a thread on this a few weeks back as l removed the thermastat and didnt have a gasket so l used clear silicon instead. I was concerned it would leak but now it is 100 times better than the crappy paper gasket that had a small leak before.
