i just got my car back from a local mechanic(first time there) to get some heater hoses replaced. When paying the bill he gave me list of things that needed to b done.
1)head gasket replacement (has a leak) 2)bell housing welsh plug replacment These jobs r gunna cost me $1250! Could some1 explain to me in detail how to check myself so i know if they r trying to rip me off. also i changed the oil 2 weeks ago no milkyness and checked the oil 3 days ago and again no milkyness. cheers guys |

when my headgasket went there was no chockolate milkshake in there, look down the side of your block for brown streaks.

Why dont you take your car to someone decent firstly? lol

taking it to my mechanic 2moro see what he thinks... but im goin to get that head and stage 2 cam package from CMS,as soon as i get ova this gasket woes hehe

When a head gasket fails it can fail in several differant ways. Not always resulting in water in oil milkyness. They often fail between the water jacket holes and the outside resulting in no effect in performance just a subtle coolant leak.
$1250 not that bad, considering the head gasket will cost around $700-$900 & the rear welsh plug requires the tranny to be removed.

my head gasket leaked for almost 3 years before i decided to get it fixed, car never missed a beat in that time.

I there were no repercussions from running it with the gasket like that I wouldn't change it either.
