I have just bought a eb block with au crank, rods and pistons, on the top of the pistons there are lil grooves for the valves but they are small, im wondering if they are from valves hitting the piston or did the au pistons needed lil grooves to go into a eb block? i was told this is fine to use as is..... any help would be appreciated,
thanks

my EF pistons have the grooves.
i'd be inclined to say all of the 3.9/4.0 pistons have them.

I'm just curious how you can get an EB block with an AU crank, considering they are largely a different design... Biggers mains, etc.

Advertisment or not... I didn't think it could be done.

What is the part number stamped on the crank?

It is possibly to fit the au crank rods and pistons into a older block aslong as you use all the rods crank and pistons, not just rods, or crank or pistons etc. It has been done a few times with good results. I saw that motor forsale and if i still had my ea i woulda snapped it up also, very good buy.

Mate thats a unreal buy and even better sounding project. Yea i was heavily consdering doing the same thing to my ea as a cheap short time fixed for the rooted motor that was in it. But instead i just flogged it off and got a ef. Anyway deffinately keep us posted how it all goes.
