yeah, chances are it will be fixed with a front wheel balance...

if a balance doesnt fix it then I can safely assume that it is your tyres, they may be slightly out of round or they may have a slight carcass deformation at that speed. I had the identical problem, I got my wheels balances and they were out a long way, Id assume this was from compression braking and the shift kit cause I only started to notice it after I did a tyre rotation. I got 2 new 406 series hankooks on the front of the fairmont today and boy does it hang on now. The vibration is also gone

agreed, a front wheel balance should do the trick, its a common problem because a few off my mates cars do the same thing. |

That sounds like "text book" wheel bearings going or not in properly; have them checked, or do it yourself, not hard.

I recently had this very same problem, not the tyres ,not the bearings it turned out to be the rack end (inside the boot on steering rack) which had quite some play in it.
Don't jump to the first cause you come across, it'll bite you in the a***.

i know this is a tad off topic, but i have to laugh. when i read the topic i thought of a mate who used to have a factory turbocharged toyota starlet. 89 model. auto.
when he was idling the steering wheel used to jump up and down. about two or three inches!! i looked at him kinda weird so he grabbed the wheel to stop it bouncing, and the bonnet took up the cause!! ahh, the joys of old jap crap!! |

Cheap tyres indeed, but at the rate Im going through them Im happy with the overall package. Wheel Bearings are fine, and so is wheel balance now

I have the same problem and it only happens when I apply the breaks while doing 100-110k like Shot. I've checked my bearings..couldn't find anything wrong. I haven't tried checking the steering rack though for play.

95 fairmont its sounds as though it could be your brakes, might need to get the rotors machined or put new ones on......if you can afford it though change to DBA
