trying to do a complete diff swap ... got one from the wreakers they said it was from a EL .... But the mounting brackets are different ....
My old brackets have 3 holes in them and the one the wreakers gave me only has one hole .... dose any one know what these differences are ??? ... have they giving me the wrong diff ??? |

That's an EF one. You'll need the EF handbrake cable as well as the EF control arms as well if you want a successful swap.

possibly putting in the ef TRAILING ARMS (as control arms are in the front an face from left to right, and right to left, trailing arms although in front of the diff leading it run from front to rear) may solve your problem, the extra holes are for fixing the problem you are having. when you change the height of your car you change the angle of your tailshaft, which will roll your diff down so the fixed length of the shaft will still fit. the vibration will be from your unis working at an angle greater than they are meant to. other option is find an el diff or see if the ef tail shaft is shorter, unsure if it is but if so it could be that simple. |

EF and EL control arms are different. EL arms are shorter by about a centimetre, and you can reposition them with the 3 holes to correct tailshaft angle if you need it. The EF has one hole and can't be repositioned.
As said, you're going to need the EL control arms. Shouldn't be hard to find.

Also the EL holes are in different places, owing to the better rear end suspension setup the EL's got over the EFs.
As said you'll need to change the arms to make it fit, but then you'll have downgraded to EF rear suspension. Take it back to the wrecker, tell him he's a d***head, and to give you an EL diff.

a EF diff will fit into a EL but you MUST use the EF upper control arms and the EF handbrake cable . it will then bolt straight in
we have done this plenty of times without a problem |

thanks guys, now kinda figured out why mine had the vibration.... I had an EF diff in my EL when I put in a new one 2 weeks ago, maybe they just wacked it in and only changed the handbrake cable... had a horrible vibration thru the car about 50-60kmh.... I thought the diff might have been stuffed but now with what you guys have been saying it might be ok.... with the proper EL diff, now smooth as and handling is heaps better to boot
