Hi all,
I was just wondering - I keep getting a code 214 - CMP fault in my EF, but I never get a noticable change in running/starting etc. Is this something that I can ignore for the time being? My other question is on replacing it. The gregories says its recommended that it be done by a dealer or Ford etc, but is this really necessary? Anybody replaced one here? I assume its exactly the same as a dizzy, but whats the procedure for aligning it on the right tooth etc? Any help appreciated.

I havnt installed one for a long time, but this is how I remember doing it.
There is a hole on the left side when the plug is facing you, stick something in there (allen key) and rotate the gear until the key clicks in and locks up the shaft. Then insert into the block with cyl 1 at TDC on compression stroke. Sensor is aligned - dont forget to remove the key Personally I wouldnt bother changing it unless the car was running rough. This sensor is not as important as it sounds (My EF runs without one)
