just the last week or so my key hasnt been turning in the ignition, it is like the steering wheel is on lock but it is, and then a wiggle the steering wheel round for 10mins and it turns, is there any reason why it is doing this? because the steeering wheel isnt on lock when it does this

What do you mean by wiggle for 10 minutes? maybe it eventually lifts the steering column pin? maybe try wiggling harder, and see if it unlocks?

Does it feel exactly like a wheel lock? or similar but different? Maybe you scratched your key severly somewhere, jsut enough to have the little pins to stop the key from turning, but not enough to hold i locked?

am I confusing me or what?

You get what I mean?

In a lock there are pins to stop the tumbler I thijnk its called from turning in a cylinder... if you scratch your key a bit, then the pins in the tumbler might be stopping it from turning. But because a bit is so insignificant, it might give in after a while... thats what I meant

Try whacking the steering wheel with your left hand, if it happens again. Works for me!
