i am installing a EB XR8 motor in to a Cobra, the problem is i need to bypass the BEM or fulseify the signal to the ECU to disarm the smart lock dose any one have infomation on how this is done, basicly i dont want the smart lock to work

i have BEM, ECU but no key or barrel.

i have been told to use a stock v8 ECU nope i want the XR ECU in

i have also been told to program the key and barrel and have it hidden inside the dash to permanently disarm the smart lock, not happy with that ether, keep it simple

There are no XR/non-XR V8 EEC's in the EB/ED range (except EB GT and ED Sprint - 2DDA/2DCA EEC's) from what I understand, so the easiest would be to just go find a non-smartlock EB/ED EEC. There are devices around to bypass smartlock but they are expensive.

or what about hide the bem in the dash and use the ford key/barrel?

then u could even add keyless entry to the car.. no that it is needed as u can litrally jump in :)

or next option would be full aftermarket ecu

i cant use the ford key and barrel because it will not fit to a sigma stearing coloum that is being used.

If you have the key and barrel then you can just mount them up behind the dash or somewhere out of the way and leave the key in there just to disable the smartlock. But as I said, the easiest would just to use a non-smartlock EEC.

there is a module that disables smartlock, but i have no idea who made/makes it, depending on how the ignition barrell is wired to the BEM you could just make the BEM think the key is in the barrell and turned.

First of all, I'd be surprised if an engineer allows an EB engine. Donor engine must meet current emissions. We were stuck using an AU and only just scraped in on dates as it also depends on when you first make contact with your engineer. Anyway, go to Castle Auto Elecs in Castlemaine to get the little black box that bypasses the smartlock. I think it is only about $100. Next problem we found was, throughout AU there was 3 ecu's. Smartlock, then Smartlock/Smartshield then Smartshield. Castle Auto's box only works on the Smartlock ecu and I don't think as yet anyone else has solved the others. Having said that, Castle Auto's box plugs into their loom. You may have to modify yours. It's only 3 wires anyway.

Paul, we had the same luck. Scraped in with the engineer by months. But that still required the AU engine not the 1UZFE already purchased. Frank, wouldn't the donor engine meet the emissions for the year of the vehicle that it came out of. The way it works now, you must use a current emissions passed engine. That meant for us, nothing older than AU as earlier met diferent older emissions even though the same 5.0ltr. We made first contact with the engineer at the very end of that window for AU engines, but then you are granted a 3 year window from that date to use the planned engine even though it is no longer meeting the current emissions laws. Months later would have meant the BA engines which go up in price sharply. Paul, how did you go with Castle Auto's? If you need the numbers for the 220kw smartlock ecu let me know.
