Lately my ef has been getting a bit hot and when i mean hot i mean up near the n on normal, thermos kick in when it reaches o but even i the morning when it is not hot it still does it any thoughts, i was thinking maybe the radiator or the thermostate but it could be something else.

Anybody know where i can get a new radiator from in the western sydney(penrith) area, dont wont to get a 2nd hand just new?

might be your thermostat, just change that and see what happens doesnt sound like its running that hot imo though. weve been having some hot a** weather!

if u want the thermos to come on earlier i think you can put your aircon to max cold and they should turn on full speed

How old is the radiator? Might be worth bitting the bullet and replacing both the radiator and the thermostat. You can do both for less than $200.

Any radaitor shop should be able to supply a new Natrad or Adrad radiator to suit your EF.

i recon ef fans kick in too late, its prety much boiling point when they kick in to a higher speed capable of cooling the car. unless the a/c is at max but when the car cool down the fans slow back down also. i just made an overide switch for mine so you can kick the fans to higher speed, the result, through trafic 37*c temp with trailer. tops 94*c coolant temp.

The "E" series have a really bad habit of overheating if the cooling system hasn't been looked after. For a number of reasons, but mainly because the heat can't escape from under the bonnet.

Early EF's had a problem with casting sand being left in the block, thus blocking the cooling system.

I suggest that your system needs a bloody good clean-out, and not just a run-through with a hose, but an actual mechanical clean out with the "machine" that GOOD radiator places will have.
After that, get it flushed at least once a year.

I have an EL., I bought an aluminium rad. off E-bay and fitted it, (but you really need to be aware of stray currents, and fix them.)
Even on 36 deg days, with the aircon on, it doesn't get over the "R" on normal.

thanks for the coments i think i'll just replace both radiator and thermostat, think there the originals and the last owner didnt really look after that well.
