try checking that there all plugged in. At the dash and at the boot side of things. Its super easy to forget to plug every thing back when swaping looms over

The boot release button comes out without removing any of the dash anyway lol!
Guess your bes tto check there, then the boot connection and if i rem. correctly thats near the drivers side boot strut up there; can get to it thru back seat or when boot is open. Mine came undone once and i didnt play with it; plugeed it back in n all was good. Other than that you might have to trace it from the front (button) back (to boot) to find issue.
