oki..ive recently replaced my rear and front suspension with low king springs and munro gt shocks...noooowwww...it all is brilliant, handles amazingly well and i love it but ever since i did the back ive had this shocking knocking noise even on the smallest bump. I have had the exhaust fixed, it doesnt move more than 1cm either directection due to some fancy welding and super stiff rubbers...however...it isnt this thats the prob ive found. Any ideas as to what could be causing this noise in the rear.

I've driven without the jack and wheel in the back, and without the tyre removiing thingy mi bob...its all not the causer...(n yes the boot has nothing that rattles in it). I cant figure it out..pisses the hell outa me cos its always there and i cant work it out. Car has 251,000kms on it (hence the replacemen of suspension) and far as i know the back suspension other than springs and shocks is all stock. Rubbers look ok, but i dont know 100%.

yeah, definately sounds like the top of the strut might have some play in it. easy as to tighten up.

could it also be that the spring isnt sitting in the saddle correctly? this also will cause a knock as you go over a bump

The BOTTOM shock bolts are usually the ones that cuase the problems.

mine still does the same thing. It is not the bolts nor the exhaust or springs. I have totally pulled my suspension out and put back in and still makes a noise. It seems to be coming from the right hand side.

I am buggered what it is. Even on the smaleest bumps it makes this noise.

The same thing happened on my EB GLi.. Recently I swapped the shocks and springs from the GLi into the Ghia - and it does the same thing.

I'm using KYB Heavy Duty Shocks and King Super Low springs. Its *really* annoying.

Pick up the guard and lift it up and down.. If you can hear the knock I tend to think it is the shock dead or bottoming out. If it does this and you have time, take the shock out and test it - compress it then hold one end and see how long it takes to drop. If it takes ages it's buggereed. As for the bolts, as long as they are as tight as you can do them by hand they should be good. :P
