Just wondering cos there is heaps of EA s packs to use as donor cars but i didnt know if the gear boxes were s**t or they were pretty much the same..

yeh they are basically the same box... possibly differences in wiring and definatly differences in ECU's.

If i use a T5 out of a EA then get a EF broadband manifold i will need a ECU out of a manual EF? Is there anywhere u can buy aftermarket ECU's as its gonna be hard to find a EF manual wrecking..

EA's had a different first gear ratio in the T5.

First I've heard of that .. got any more info on it? ... not saying your wrong im right, I know the V8's T5 had a different ratio .. But never heard of the EA-EB/ED's having different ratios . |

Turns out it's more than just the first gear ratio which is different, which I always thought was the only difference.

these boxes look the same but are fairly different internally.
the ea also uses a smaller clutch and the flywheel is drilled different to suit this. you can use a ED computer with the BBM and can buy a ED XR manual computer fairly easy. my advice is to buy the latest model that you can find. up to el will all interchange. |
