Hi all,
I was wondering, as I don't know what the stock speaker are rated at if I was to get a set of 6'' speakers from Jaycar part CS2334. Would these be a step up even if its only a little bit? At the moment I am mainly looking at filling in the high freqs. When I have more dollars then cents I will complete the upgrade with a 4ch amp and splits. My head unit is an Eclipse CD3413. (40Wx4 (13Wrmsx4)). CS2334 Specs: Power Handling: 35WRMS Impedance: 4ohm Frequency Response: 60-20KHz Sensitivity: 89dB/Wm Magnet: 10 0Z Speaker Dimensions: A 158, B 145 Depth: 67mm Thanks in advance LN

Price with me is normally not an issue, if i want the best i will save for it. As i have stock plus Eclipse i was planning on staying with Eclipse so i was looking at an 4 channel amp (PA5422) plus 4x6'' 3-way speakers (SA8364). Cost was about $1000 so i guess around the $1k mark.
I was sadly informd that the 6.5'' component series (SC8264) of eclispe won't fit in my car with out heavy modding or custom construction. I have been thinking though about getting the next size down the 5.25'' compoments (SC8254) and make a bracket for them. Plus deadend the doors. I have an 2ch amp bridged for the 12'' sub atm. It pumps loud, now i want the speakers to be able to keep up aswell. Thanks LN (Sorry for bad spelling)

u shud be able to fit the components in the doors easy, i have alpine 6.5's in the doors of my eb and they required next to no modding, i am not to sure about in ur parcel shelf tho without cutting a larger hole, but the extent of ur heavy modding can only be cutting and drilling so its not really that heavy ey:P good luck tho and post pics wen ur done

personally, for the front, i'd reccomend a set of splts from the JL Audio catalogue..... V or X series IMO are best

Thank you for the replys, I just bite the bullet and went got the 6'' speakers from Jaycar for 40 bucks.
I must admit the sound has improved greatly as I now have better fill in the high end thanks to the tweeters. The low freq is much lower and alot more punchy. All this from the headunit and cheap (lower price) 2-way speakers, would love to know how an $1K system would sound. Cheers all! LN

The Jaycar CS2324 is a much better speaker and although more expensive is definatley worth the extra money. The swivel tweeter is quite smooth and aldo allows you to position and angle it which helps with imaging. The Kevler cone 6.5" woofer is much better than the injection moulded one of the lwoer series so if you can save the extra $50 then it is the one i would reccomenend. If not then the ones you've suggested are better than standard although not a marked improvement....

Thanks, i still have the front to do. I have the cheaper one unopen, i wonder if they will let me swap them over for the kevlar 6.5''. Will the .5'' be a problem in my EF on the doors? i see the Jaycar catalogue states them as 77mm deep. the cheap ones are 67mm deep but i know they fit just not sure by how much as i can't see the clearence.
PS sound deadend material for the doors, best place to buy from? thanks LN

As it turns out the .5'' make a difference as I will need to cut the door to make them fit and I'll need a spacer for the depth. So I am stuck with 6'' as the limit as I have no skill or knowledge to mod the car front doors to get anything bigger to fit. If u could buy the pods or modded door trims etc I would.
