theres a shaft in dizzy I6 motors that turns both the distributor and the oil pump. If you've changed the dizzy or looked at it it could be a broken shaft, or a broken timing chain. does the cam turn?

if the chain has slipped ,how do you put it back ,do you have to pull the engine out ?

pull the rocker cover off and check the timing chain. If it had just slipped it would still turn the rotor. Chances are the chain has snapped or the auxiliary shaft siezed/broke.

Its not a trivial job to fix. Minimum needed to fix is to drop the front lip of the sump, remove the timing cover and replace the chain, guides, tensioner, and then clean all the crap out of the sump (there will be a fair bit).
